Why you might see this term

UK advice generally recommends 400 micrograms daily when trying to conceive and through the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Some people need a prescribed higher dose.

What to keep in mind

Ask a clinician or pharmacist about the right dose for your health and medicines. Taking folic acid is not a treatment for every fertility problem.
