Embryo

The developing group of cells formed after an egg is fertilised. In IVF, embryos are observed in the laboratory before transfer or freezing.

Why you might see this term

A clinic may describe development stage or appearance using a grading system. Ask what that system means in your treatment.

What to keep in mind

Appearance and grading cannot guarantee that an embryo will implant or lead to a live birth.
