Fibroids

Non-cancerous growths in or around the womb. They vary in size and location, and many cause no symptoms.

Also searched as: uterine fibroids, myomas

Why you might see this term

When fertility is a concern, where a fibroid sits and whether it changes the womb cavity can matter. Symptoms may include heavy bleeding or pelvic pressure.

What to keep in mind

Not every fibroid affects conception or needs surgery. A scan and individual discussion are more useful than the label alone.
