BFN and BFP

Informal TTC abbreviations: BFN means a negative pregnancy test and BFP means a positive pregnancy test. They describe a result, not a medical diagnosis.

Also searched as: big fat negative, big fat positive

Why you might see this term

A negative result before a missed period may simply be too early. Follow the test instructions and repeat later if your period has not arrived.

What to keep in mind

A positive test does not establish where a pregnancy is located or whether it is developing as expected.
