Sperm & semen · In plain English

Semen pH

A measure of how acidic or alkaline the semen is. It describes the sample fluid, rather than how many sperm are present.

Also searched as: seminal pH

Why you might see this term

A laboratory considers pH alongside other sample findings, such as volume and sperm numbers.

What to keep in mind

pH alone cannot diagnose an infection, blockage or fertility problem. Collection and handling details also matter when a report is interpreted.
