Ectopic pregnancy

A pregnancy that implants outside the womb, most often in a fallopian tube. It cannot continue safely and needs medical assessment.

Why you might see this term

Possible signs include one-sided lower abdominal pain, unusual bleeding or shoulder-tip pain, especially if pregnancy is possible.

What to keep in mind

Seek urgent medical advice for these symptoms. Sudden severe pain, fainting or collapse requires emergency help; do not wait for a calculator or repeat home test.
